A BBCET school that Ofsted inspectors described as ‘caring, nurturing and supportive’ is opening its doors to prospective parents and pupils, with Open Days taking place on Friday 24 October and Friday 14 November.
Colette Barrett, Headteacher at St Cuthbert’s Catholic Primary in Walbottle, said: “Our school is a place where we can grow as a family, helping each other to lead full and happy lives.
“We provide a happy, caring, and nurturing environment that aims to make our pupils good citizens of the future.”
St Cuthbert’s also won praise in the Ofsted Report for its ‘strong’ curriculum, as well as its ‘caring ethos’.
“We encourage our pupils to develop their talents and follow their dreams,” continued Mrs Barrett, who will be on hand to show visitors around the school on both days, along with Deputy Headteacher Sarah Walsh, and Reception Class Teacher Hannah Davidson.
“We encourage them to excel in all areas of the curriculum. Our aim is to provide a challenging and enriching curriculum, which will equip our pupils to achieve high academic standards, and develop their confidence to move to the next stage in their learning.
“By walking in the footsteps of Jesus, every child, irrespective of beliefs, race, or culture, will be treated as the unique person they are, and, through respect and nurturing, will gain a love of learning in order to reach his or her full potential.”
Morning and afternoon time slots are available on the Open Days, while those unable to make either date can arrange to visit by appointment.
“They will have a tour of the school, chat to whoever is showing them around, get to hear from the pupils what it’s like to be a pupil at St Cuthbert’s, and have a chance to ask any of their own questions,” added Mrs Barrett.
“We provide a welcoming, friendly approach, where families and visitors feel comfortable and are positively encouraged to participate in the life of the school.”
