There was double the festive fun, when St Alban’s Catholic Primary combined its annual Christmas Fayre with a whole-school Christmas Jumper Day celebration.
“All pupils from Nursery through to Year 6 were invited to take part by wearing a festive jumper,” said Headteacher Ciara Yeoman, who organised both events at the school in Walker.
“All staff were warmly encouraged to join in, and help create a fun, festive atmosphere across the school.”
Besides sporting seasonal knitwear, those taking part enjoyed all the fun of the fair, including themed stalls, games, competitions, and refreshments.
“Christmas Jumper Day took place on the same day as our school Christmas Fayre, allowing us to spread even more festive cheer,” continued Mrs Yeoman.
“We hope to have raised a meaningful amount to support school projects and pupil enrichment. Previous years have seen generous support from our community.”
Other BBCET schools celebrating Christmas Jumper Day included St Mark’s Catholic Primary in Westerhope.
“Christmas Jumper Day is an important part of our festive calendar,” added Mrs Yeoman. “It helps bring pupils, staff, and families together, builds a strong sense of community, and spreads joy at a busy time of year.
“When combined with events like our Christmas Fayre, it also helps raise valuable funds that directly support pupils’ experience, wellbeing, and enrichment.”
