Spots all over at BBCET school’s fundraiser

There was an outbreak of spots at a BBCET school – but it was all for the best of causes.

Pupils at St Mark’s Catholic Primary arrived at the school gates sporting an array of spotty outfits and accessories, as well as some furry Pudsey and Blush teddy-bear ears, for this year’s Children in Need appeal.

The whole school, from Nursery to Year 6, took part in the fundraiser, along with members of staff, who also spent the day wearing spots.

St Mark’s was hoping to raise £300 for the charity, beating last year’s figure of £250.

“It is important for us to participate in Children in Need, because it reflects the school’s mission to live out Gospel values of compassion, service, and helping those in need,” said Deputy Headteacher Melanie Henderson.

“The initiative supports disadvantaged children across the UK who face poverty, mental health challenges, and social inequality. By raising funds, the school helps provide essential items and resources that improve children’s lives and give them a better chance to thrive.”

Other BBCET primary schools taking part included St Catherine’s, St Columba’s, St John Vianney, St Mary’s in Forest Hall, St Oswald’s, and Star of the Sea.

“Participation also teaches pupils the importance of empathy, charity, and social responsibility, encouraging them to make a positive difference in their communities,” added Mrs Henderson.

“It strengthens the sense of unity within the school and beyond, as children, families, and staff come together to support others and create lasting change.”
